Meet the Team
Blair Bigelow May, PMBA
Co-Founder & CEO
Blair Bigelow May is the CEO of Selene. She was the Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Bigelow Aerospace for five years, and currently serves on the board of Space Kinetic, a space defense company developing asymmetric space based intercept technology. She is the Co-founder of Desert Legacy Capital, a Las Vegas based family office. At Bigelow Aerospace, Blair served as primary NASA liaison, overseeing major programs including BEAM, CASIS, and NextSTEP I/II. Blair participated in technical and programmatic reviews (PDRs, CDRs, TIMs), vendor evaluations, and trade studies. She secured $158M in tax abatements to support company expansion and job creation. Blair also assisted in negotiating novel contracts with SpaceX for private astronaut missions to the International Space Station.
Maria Matthews, PhD
Co-Founder & President
Maria Matthews is the President of Selene. She was a Mission Manager at SpaceX for five years on the Rideshare Program, and worked closely with the SpaceX Sales team as their technical support and liaison to the engineering teams for dozens of commercial negotiations. Maria also worked as a Systems Engineer at Bigelow Aerospace, championing the human-rated certification of BEAM with NASA. She has a PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from Penn State, and worked for several years as a systems and safety engineer for launch vehicles and advanced transportation development. She was also the Head of Systems Engineering at a virtual reality production company, Magnopus and worked on production of the Dubai World Expo 2020 project.
